ABOUT THE LANGUAGE:

Macedonian is the official language of the Republic of Macedonia. The modern South Slavic languages form a continuum of a series of mutually intelligible dialects. The transition between Serbian/Croatian to Macedonian, and Macedonian to Bulgarian is gradual and mutual intelligibility is high. Some consider Macedonian a dialect of Bulgarian, but this is a highly charged issue disputed by others.

Macedonian employs a Cyrillic script. Here is a sample:

Ситe чoвeчки суштeствa сe рaѓaaт слoбoдни и eднaкви пo дoстoинствo и прaвa. Tиe сe oбдaрeни сo рaзум и сoвeст и трeбa дa сe oднeсувaaт eдeн кoн друг вo дуxoт нa oпштo чoвeчкaтa припaднoст.
