Intensive Summer Armenian in Yerevan

CLI's 4-week summer program in Yerevan helps students extend and solidify the language and culture skills they develop during intensive Armenian classes on the ASU campus.
The Yerevan program offers Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced Mastery instruction.
Students in all levels share a common set of activities and excursions. See the Yerevan 2010 co-curricular activities schedule for an example.
Students receive 3 ASU credits at the 400 level (SLC 494) for successfully completing the program.
Since the Yerevan program is small, instructors provide a great deal of individual attention and staff are able to tailor the program to students' needs.
This program is open only to students who complete one of the 7-week courses below.
Classes meet 3 hours a day on weekdays. Students enjoy regular cultural activities and excursions, with weekend trips out of town.
The activities schedules are adjusted to suit the needs and interests of the students each year. For an example, see the Yerevan co-curricular activities schedule.
In addition to cultural activities, the Yerevan practicum offers students the opportunity to participate in service learning projects. These projects vary from year to year and will be described during CLI classes in June and July. Participation in these classes is optional, but highly recommended.
Materials for the Yerevan program are the same as those for the intensive Elementary Armenian, intensive Intermediate Armenian , and Advanced Mastery Armenian courses at ASU.
Participants live in a furnished apartment in the center of Yerevan. They prepare their own meals or eat in local restaurants.
Located in the heart of the Caucasus mountains, with stunning views of Mount Ararat, Yerevan is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Armenia. A compact city with a population of roughly one million, Yerevan offers a wide variety of educational and cultural opportunities, in a friendly and safe environment. One of the oldest cities of the world, Yerevan is dotted with ancient churches, monuments, and archeological sites.
