Intensive Intermediate Russian

This intensive course provides an intermediate-level introduction to Russian language and culture. Lessons will combine textbook materials with authentic texts and videos and with frequent team exercises to help students achieve a working, practical knowledge of the language and culture.
The course will also place a heavy emphasis on “learning how to learn,” on the importance of dealing with spontaneous Russian, and on “bootstrapping” techniques for extracting meaning effectively from unscripted materials.
By the end of the course, students should be able to understand factual written and spoken content on familiar topics, to participate in routine social interactions, and to accomplish daily tasks in Russian. Students are expected to have a solid command of the core grammatical constructions of Russian and a reading familiarity with the entire grammar.
Dr. Marina Yermilova Sari Ad-Din holds a PhD in Linguistics from Saint Petersburg State University. She has over 30 years experience teaching Russian for foreigners, both in her native Russia and at Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon. In addition to her academic position, Dr. Yermilova Sari Ad-Din directed the Russian Cultural Center in Tripoli (Lebanon) and was cultural coordinator for the Russian Cultural Center in Beirut. Marina speaks Russian, English, French, Spanish, and colloquial Arabic.
